Removing a picture from Johann Joseph Couven

[brón bewèrke]

Hi, what's up with removing a picture from Johann Joseph Couven (here [1])? The picture is in the public domain! Since we are in the European Union, we are free to use it! If you remove a picture, please give a decent description of why you remove it. - Pahles | zègk 't mer 13 fib 2011 20:32 (CET)[reageren]

Hi Pahles,

the portrait is a reproduced extract from the overall picture called: "Wilhelm Otto Friedrich von Quadt zu Wickrath mit seinem Bauherrn Francois Soiron und Schloss Wickrath im Hintergrund": http://www.rp-online.de/niederrheinsued/moenchengladbach/nachrichten/moenchengladbach/Die-Bauherren-im-Sueden_aid_769795.html and shows one of the architects of Wickrath Castle. According to the art historians the respective architect is not Couven but Soiron. The overall picture can be found in the "Städtisches Museum Rheydt". Both, the attribution of the architect from Wickrath Castle and the painter of this extract are a point of issue concerning history of art and architecture. The comprehensive recension including evidences in the German article about "Couven-Porträt" was deleted from the German Wikipedia because Wikipedia is not destined as platform for discussions between specialists. In the near future you will find the corresponding discussion in the article "Couven Museum" under the "discussion button". ArthurMcGill 14 fib 2011 09:15 (CET)[reageren]

Very nice and all, but again, if you delete pictures from articles, please give a decent description of WHY you delete it. You are only pointing to the commons page where a hardly noticeable text is inserted. I would advice you to use the "Discussion" page of the picture on commons to clarify your point. - Pahles | zègk 't mer 14 fib 2011 09:28 (CET)[reageren]

Hi Pahles, kindly note that the summary of the German description could already be taken from the http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Johann_Joseph_Couven_2.JPG?uselang=de.

The complete discussion is to be found as follows: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diskussion:Couven-Museum_Aachen (German). The English version of the summary was now added to the diskussion button of the picture of commons. ArthurMcGill 14 fib 2011 15:53 (CET)[reageren]
